We have news about the highly anticipated second season of Shogun, thanks to a new listing on UBCP/ACTRA’s production list.
A cryptic listing for a new production referred to as Category 10 appeared in the latest production list.
After some digging, we found another listing on the IATSE union website for Category 10, AKA Shogun.
The first season of the historical drama, based on a 1970s book, was filmed around Metro Vancouver and B.C., and the production listing suggests that the second season will start filming here in January 2026.
However, don’t get too excited for this second season, as it might not come to light until 2027. The production list has a tentative timeline of nine months for the shoot, with an expected wrap date of September 2026.
Port Moody was famously featured as part of the first season, and a Japanese Pine tree was a star in the show.
Joining the team is writer-director Kate Herron, who had previously been a director on another hit show filmed in Vancouver, The Last of Us.
Variety reported that Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis would reprise their roles in season two of the FX series. The entertainment publication also noted that Sanada and Jarvis would serve as co-executive producers and the season will reportedly take place 10 years after the events of the first show.
The second season of Shogun joins an already impressive lineup of shows and films that are being filmed in Metro Vancouver between fall and winter, including the Scrubs revival, the Legally Blonde series, a new series from the people behind Succession, a Fear Factor reboot, a series based on Stephen King’s Carrie, The Social Network Part II, and of course, Air Bud Returns.
