It’s a busy time of year for TV and movie productions around Metro Vancouver, and parts of the downtown area just got a New York makeover.
In the Hornby and Hastings area, it appears as though there’s an entrance to a New York City Transit Subway station. While convincing from afar, there’s no actual entrance to a station once you get closer.
The other side of the entrance shows signs for “Fulton St Station.” Some transit enthusiasts on social media have pointed out that the colours for the station sign don’t exactly match what you’d see in New York, likely due to copyright issues.
Further down the street, there’s also a New York-themed billboard about conservation.
While we can’t confirm exactly what the production is for, the sequel to The Social Network, which now has the official title of The Social Reckoning, does take place in New York. The film is officially being shot in Vancouver.
Another part of Vancouver that was recently transformed for The Social Reckoning is the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Earlier this month, Vulture published a story about how the Vancouver Art Gallery was transformed into the Capitol for a reenactment of the events that transpired on Jan. 6. Someone posted pictures of the shoot on Reddit.
“So many of the restaurants and public spaces I frequent are constantly blocked off for filming, usually for Tracker. But the notion of replicating Jan. 6 in the heart of Vancouver’s downtown feels extra funny,” Vulture reporter Nicholas Quah wrote.
