A brand-new Netflix series was just released, and if you look in the background, you might spot some familiar scenery in and around Calgary.
Can This Love Be Translated? is a K-drama filmed in Calgary. Actors Go Youn Jung and Kim Seon Ho were spotted filming scenes throughout the city back in 2024.
According to Netflix, the show synopsis reads, “The emotions of a celebrity and her interpreter get lost in translation as they travel the world filming a TV show. Will love find its own language?”
The show was released on Jan. 16, 2026 and can be streamed on Netflix. Filming locations for some of the episodes included popular Alberta spots like Lake Louise, Banff, and Calgary.
Locals have already taken to Reddit, pointing out familiar Calgary spots. One user recalled, “They were also filming on Stephen Avenue near the Chocolate Lab last year. I’m pretty excited about this one!”
“I saw some of the filming notices on [the] 17th!” another added.
Another shared their reaction after watching and noticing a funny detail in the show. “Binged the first four episodes last night. Couldn’t help but laugh when they said, ‘I’m going downtown!’ and it immediately cuts to Banff.”
The new show joins the already long list of Alberta-shot Netflix series, such as western drama The Abandons and My Life With The Walter Boys.
Another movie that was recently released includes Die My Love, starring Robert Pattinson and Jennifer Lawrence, who called Calgary the coldest set of her career.
