Vancouver is once again playing itself and everywhere else on screen, this time as the backdrop for Apple TV+’s new sports comedy, Stick, starring Owen Wilson.
Created by Jason Keller, the series follows Pryce Cahill, an over-the-hill ex-golfer whose life unravels after he’s fired and left by his wife.
He finds a last shot at redemption when he begins coaching a troubled teen prodigy, staking his future on the young player’s success.
Wilson leads the cast alongside Peter Dager and Lilli Kay, with the entire series shot in and around Metro Vancouver.
Golf courses across Langley, Surrey, and Richmond doubled as key championship venues, while motels and suburban streets fleshed out the show’s small-town American setting, according to Travel Noire.

The actor hasn’t just been working while in the city.
Fans have spotted Wilson taking in Canucks games and even dining at Bar Bravo, a Fraser Street seafood and cocktail hotspot recommended by the Michelin Guide.
His off-camera presence has only boosted excitement for the production, which blends Hollywood star power with British Columbia’s natural backdrops.
For fans curious about other film and TV productions shot here, Netflix’s “In Your Neighbourhood” interactive map showcases exactly where big shows and movies were filmed across B.C. From downtown to the North Shore, it offers a glimpse of the places that have made Vancouver a go-to backdrop for Hollywood.
Apple TV+ has already renewed Stick for a second season, which will return to Vancouver later this year.
That means locals might want to keep their eyes open; there’s a good chance Owen Wilson will be back in the stands at Rogers Arena or on the trails of the North Shore.
