A new TV show based off a best-selling book series is filming in Alberta right now, and it’s one you won’t want to miss.
The first season of Anna Pigeon has been in pre-production since early June, and the filming of the series kicks off today and runs into mid-November, according to the Director’s Guild of Canada (DGC) Alberta Production list.
The series will focus on titular character Anna Pigeon, a woman trying to flee her traumatic past by becoming a park ranger, only to find herself embroiled in a series of crimes committed in the vast American wilderness, according to the USA Network, which ordered the series from Cineflix Studios and December Films.
The series will be based on The New York Times best-selling book series, Anna Pigeon, written by Nevada Barr over the past three decades. A total of 19 books have been penned by Barr for the series.
“Anna Pigeon is a former city slicker who became a park ranger after a devastating loss changed the trajectory of her life forever,” an official USA Network synopsis explains. “While Anna tries to outrun her demons, her focus turns to solving crimes that have taken place within national park grounds, no matter who or what gets in her way.”
The series will be directed by Lea Thompson, while Todd Berger, Julie Di Cresce, Brett Burlock, Peter Emerson, Sonia Hosko, and Gordon Gilbertson are set to executive produce.
The cast of the series has yet to be announced, but a release date is set for sometime next year.
The series is just another feather in Alberta’s cap when it comes to film and TV series, with just last month seeing a popular Calgary museum closing due to a TV series shooting there.
