There are some new Netflix productions dropping on the streaming service that are the perfect fit for the holidays, and many were filmed in and around B.C. and the Vancouver area.
A show that you might have already watched, a rom-com titled The Wrong Paris, was filmed in Agassiz and in North Vancouver.
The North Vancouver filming featured Lynn Canyon’s 30-foot pool.
According to the synopsis, a young woman joins a dating show thinking it’s Paris in France, but it’s actually Paris, Texas.
The Agassiz shoot saw it filmed at a bar in the small B.C. community called Sossy’s Saloon.
Another show filmed in B.C. that featured a notable business is My Secret Santa. The film came out last week, and as the title implies, it’s a Christmas feature.
According to a Netflix in Your Neighbourhood media release, Barnacle Records, a Kamloops store that celebrated its 10-year anniversary earlier this year, was proudly featured in the film.
“A vivacious single mom in need of a job decides to disguise herself as a man in order to get hired as the seasonal Santa at a luxury ski resort. But when she starts to fall in love with the hotel manager, complications develop that could ruin everything,” reads the synopsis for the Netflix film.
“Barnacle Records is an independent record shop in Kamloops, B.C. Run by Rónan and Jessie McGrath, Barnacle opened its doors in August 2015,” the website states.
Production for My Secret Santa also had it going to another popular B.C. spot, Sun Peaks Resort, just northeast of Kamloops.
If you’re in the Sun Peaks area on Dec. 14, the conference centre at the resort will be screening My Secret Santa. Tickets are available online.
A recent Netflix survey suggests that 45 per cent of people who have Netflix admit that they spend the holidays in December indulging in their favourite shows, films and festive treats.
Earlier this year, Netflix revealed the B.C. filming locations for Black Mirror and some other shows.
