The film industry is booming in Alberta, and a new movie, reportedly from Netflix, is set to shoot in our province later this year.
According to the Director’s Guild of Canada Alberta production list, an “untitled Bodyguard project” is currently in pre-production and is set to start production on Dec. 3, lasting until Dec. 23.
The film is set to star Gilmore Girls and Supernatural actor Jared Padalecki, alongside Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester, according to Screen Rant.
It is set to be an adaptation of Katherine Center’s novel of the same name, revolving around “a movie star, played by Padalecki, who is assigned a bodyguard, played by Meester, as he is being stalked. However, when the actor returns to his family’s home for the holidays, he has the bodyguard pretend to be his girlfriend so his family doesn’t worry,” Screen Rant reports.
No release date has been announced for the project, so stay tuned as production on the film progresses.
Other big projects currently in production or gearing up for it soon in our province include a series based on the best-selling book series Anna Pigeon, a film starring a White Lotus actor, and a fresh season of Netflix’s hit show My Life With The Walter Boys.
