A recent day at school was a lot more exciting than usual when Simon Fraser University students caught a glimpse of Hollywood North in action.
Part of SFU was transformed into the set of Lionsgate’s action thriller Karoshi, with plenty of film equipment, crew members, and celebrities hard at work.
Spotted on the set of the corporate thriller with the samurai twist was none other than Wicked star Cynthia Erivo.

SFU student Eduarda shared pictures with Daily Hive and told of her brief experience meeting the three-time Oscar-nominated actress.
“I went to campus just to see the filming. I was there for a few hours, got to watch a couple of scenes,” said Eduarda.
“Before going on lunch break, Cynthia walked by some of us, and we got to say hi.”
Photos taken by Eduarda show Erivo’s character giving a speech to a crowd, and examples of the set decoration used for the scene.
“Security was pretty strict on their no picture/video policy, but Cynthia was very sweet,” added Eduarda on X.
Another SFU student posted a short video clip of Erivo between takes.

According to Creative BC, Karoshi will be filming around Metro Vancouver until early August.
It’s been a busy time in Hollywood North lately as a Netflix show featuring a Game of Thrones actor will film at Metro Vancouver beach this month, and the reboot of Malcom in the Middle was also recently in production.
