Netflix in Your Neighbourhood, an initiative launched to help fans discover where their favourite shows have been filmed, just revealed the B.C. filming locations for four popular shows, including some Metro Vancouver spots.
The four shows added to the initiative include the first episode of the latest season of Black Mirror, the second season of The Recruit, Million Dollar Secret, and the new series North of North.
The shows were filmed across the province, hitting Vancouver, Surrey, Burnaby, and Kelowna. Nunavut was also featured in one of the shows.
BLACK MIRROR
The latest season of Black Mirror premiered last month, and the first episode was filmed in two cities in Metro Vancouver.
“The first episode of season seven focuses on a medical emergency that leaves schoolteacher Amanda fighting for her life, her desperate husband Mike signs her up for Rivermind, a high-tech system that will keep her alive — but at a cost,” Netflix Canada says.
The episode was filmed in Surrey and Vancouver.
NORTH OF NORTH
North of North is a new Canadian comedy series about a young Inuk woman.
She wants to build a future for herself “after a spontaneous — and extremely public — exit from her marriage.”
It takes place in a fictional town in Nunavut and was filmed in Iqaluit. Last month, the show was renewed for a second season.
MILLION DOLLAR SECRET
Netflix Canada describes Million Dollar Secret as a competition gameshow of wit, cunning and deception.
“Twelve strangers enter a sumptuous lakeside estate, and in each of their rooms is a mysterious welcome gift — a box. Eleven of them are empty, and one contains $1,000,000, and it’s for that guest to keep — as long as they keep their identity hidden,” Netflix Canada adds.
The show was filmed in both Golden and Kelowna.
THE RECRUIT
The Recruit follows a CIA lawyer in South Korea who is pulled into a dangerous, life-threatening espionage situation, “only to realize that the bigger threat just might be coming from inside the Agency.
This show was filmed in both Burnaby and Vancouver.
